I need tips on tuturing a deaf teen in literacy?

She is having a hard time constructing meaning, therefore she has a hard time constructing a story following a particular topic or a storyline that actually makes sense. Today, I plan to try something different with her. I plan to try the brainstorming idea with her. I am hoping she will do better with this. Any other tips or ideas?
