Online Dog Rescue Shelters... has anyone ever actually had success with these?

I have been trying for about 2 months now to adopt a dog through an online Rescue. I have filled out a few applications, sent emails, etc. - but NEVER hear a response. I have a nice home, I have previous experience (good) with being a pet owner. I have verifiable references, a job that would allow me to pay for unexpected vet bills, etc. Should I give up on these volunteer run groups who seem entirely ineffective and just purchase a dog from a breeder or visit my local shelter instead? If you are hard wiring your new WirelessN router into your other router, I would recommend turning off the routing function of one or the other. Turn off NAT, DHCP, DNS, Firewall, everything on one of them. If you have a modem that is a modem/router combo, those are usually pretty crapp and I would recommend disabling that one and making it just a modem and running everything through the new router.

Recurrent dreams, anyone with same experience?

I have dreamed about somebody that I can't see teaching me how to open a strange door, gold metal color, futuristic door and how to get out of that place before something happens. Every time I have it, I understand we are reviewing because I am not suppose to forget step by step how to do it, and that it is necessary that I don't forget it. I have had this dreams at least five times during my life, that I remember. The other one is how to pilot something that is like a jet, shorter, three people capacity but it doesn't need a runway, it floats, but with propulsion system, it can land anywhere even on a moon like--place where stars can be seen, but I am like engineer on electronics or mechanical and the other two are, one pilot and one is geologist (Geologist is always taking samples of the sandy-rocky surface). Do I get to claim my children on my tax return?

Hello, I have 2 children, My divorce just finallized november 18th 2009. I have been taking care of the children solely without child support since June of this year. The judge ordered back child support as well for the months he did not pay. When I looked at the child support orders which were ordered April 2009 it says he gets to claim them in 2009 but nothing else. It also says that he can only claim them if he has paid his child support in full. He did not pay for 1 and a half months and it has built intrest, it is now at 1,200 dollars. I was not working in April so I am guessing the judge just allowed him to claim them. I statred working in May and I want to claim my children. I am the cusodial parent and I know about the new form non-custodial parents must get the custodial parent to sign to claim the children but I don't think that applies if a judge already ordered him to claim them. Do I get to claim them because he is late on child support?

Last year I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. After undergoing aggressive chemotherapy, a radical mastectomy and 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments,miraculously, I am a proud survivor! My dogs not well and I can't afford the vet bill's?

I know alot of people will be judge-mental straight away and say "why did you get a dog if you can't afford it?". So to them let me explain..... Yes I could afford it but was not prepared for all the problems I was to encounter I bought my German Shepherd 18 months ago, I did every bit of research in the books to find a good breeder and choose a healthy pup. finally I found one and believed I had bought the perfect pup. The breeder told me the dog had no hereditary problems as the parents and grand parents had no problems and my pup had come from a good bloodline. Her dogs also all had pedigree papers. I met the pup and his parents and all seemed well After six weeks of having the dog at home I started to notice he was coming up in rashes on his body, so I took him to to the vets. The vet told me that the dog appeared to have atopic dermatitis, which could possibly be a life long problem. The vet gave my dog flea treatment, antibiotics, steroids and told me to complete the course of medication. I also bought my dog a hypoallergenic bed. After about 3 weeks of treatment the rashes cleared. Since this started up until 4 months ago (about november 2010) I was going to the vets every 2 months at least to get more antibiotics and steroids. I was also recommended to have groomed by the vets with a medicated shampoo every 2 weeks. During this time he also had occasional diarrhea and usual medical problems you might encounter with dogs. When the dog was just 6 months old on a routine visit to the vet, I found out that my dog only had one testicle and the other one was stuck in his abdomen. They had to operate and this cost alot of money. At the same time they also told me he had poor formation of his back legs and hips and was going to be highly prone to hip dysplaisia. They recommended that I give him fish oil capsules and Glucosamine with chondroitin daily. Not good news! but i kept my head up high and continued on. My wife gave birth to our second daughter last june. Expenses were lots and money was tight. I went to my vets last November and we decided to try him on a hypoallergenic expensive diet. it worked up until early in the new year, then he came up in rashes. He was put again on another course of antibiotics and steroids. During this time I changed his brand of hypoallergenic food to another brand and so far so good with his skin. I was told that prolonged usage of steriods was not good and could possibly shorten my dogs life. I love my dog so much but I'm struggling. He was very sick yesterday. He WAS vomiting white foam, he would not eat, he did not want water and kept hiding in my daughters room. I took him to the vet this morning and the vet said she could feel something hard around his abdomen area. She recommended I have him x-rayed and if necessary operated on. If operation necessary it would cost upto �4000. This shocked me, I was stunned. I am in a dilema, I don't have that money. Life in London is expensive already when you have a family. I've had a few problems that have affected me financially over the past year. I did consider vet bills when buying the dog, but have been really unfortunate with him having so many problems. Has any one any good advise for me, pls help!

One of my friends dad was diagnosed with leukemia about a year or so ago he has been at UAB in Birmingham and out to Texas for Chemotherapy and other types of treatment. I think teenage angst is just part of growing up. They're frustrated, scared, insecure, and they lash out because they're trying to act like they're stronger than they are in all reality. Trying to find yourself, and pretending like you know who you are when you really don't - it's nervewracking. It isn't any easier when you're constantly being judged, either. Definitely go for an external filter I would even recommend a Fluval canister filter. Depending on your Bio-load I would even recommend two of the canister filters. The reason I would say two is that the more water your getting through the filter the cleaner it will be and will be much healthier for the fish

If you're just standing there, rub her on the face until she relaxes, and have a five minute session before and after you ride. Do this consistently, and try to get your friends to help you out, so she gets used to strangers touching her face as well. I had to do this with my OTTB for a very long time before she'd stop trying to nip me or me with her head when I touched her lips and mouth. I started my son on Beginners oatmeal cereal at 3months and 1week. He was a super hungry baby, and drinks 7oz of milk every 4 hours. Stage 1 is 6 months, so Beginners is for before then. He loved it from day one. Oatmeal is supposed to be easier to digest than Rice and is a good thing to start with. I know the recommendation is 6 months, and I always swore I'd do that with my kids, but he just wasn't satisfied on just milk. He loves his cereal, and I only give it him in the mornings, and he's still drinking the same amount of milk each day.

The power steering on my vauxhall meriva has broken?

I believe it is a gift. Think about it kids with ADD and ADHD have energy and drive to get things done. Yes they have a hard time concentrating on things, but when they find something that they really dedicate themselves to, there is an endless amount of things they can accomplish. I believe it is an alternate way of thinking, but i know for a fact that even without drugs if they find something they see needs to be done, or changed, or just something they are really pionate about they do it with such a drive, it amazes me. i listen to mostly 'indie' music that isn't really dance party friendly, per se. Serious advice needed about a relationship/family?

I had a boyfriend for 5 months and he really made a mive impression on me so we are both smitten with each other. My family hate him because he is a tad y and has done some very stupid things concerning me in the past (nothing like hitting or stealing). Eventually they told me that I had the choice of either staying with him and being kicked out of my family home, or never see or have anything to do with him ever again and continue to live in the family home. Of course with a reality check I chose to contintue living with my family. But I am still in love with my ex and now we have secretly started meeting up and discussing getting back together in secret. But because of world war 3 that kicked off about me being with him before, I am really scared about getting kicked out. He has somewhere for me to live if I do get kicked out, but I really dont want my family to hate me if they find out I am back with him and have done it behind their backs. I am almost 18 and so is he so I guess I am almost legal to make my own decisions. But I really want to be able to have the best of both worlds, having him as my partner, and my family there supporting me and being happy for me. But I know that in reality I can only have one and not the other. Someone please advise me as this is a really important issue to me. Thank you.

Does anybody else find having a teenager really stressful?

I have a 17 year old daughter who I love to bits but my God does she stress me out. She's mostly great to be fair to her but I have to nag her all the time to get her to do anything. To her credit she did have a part time job but gave it up with my blessing as she was having to work till 2am and it was affecting her college work but she's done nothing about getting another one. In the meantime she has run up two huge phone bills which I'm having to pay (the deal was, while she's at college, I pay half the tariff and she pays the other half plus any extra if she goes over her free minutes) as I need her to have her phone so she can ring me if she needs me to pick her up from college etc. Plus I don't like her not being able to contact me in an emergency. And now she has started drinking lots and smoking which I now is normal teenage behaviour but everything is such a battle at the moment and she's constantly rolling her eyes. Is it just me??

I just got my belly on pierced 4/25/11 & i think its already infected?

i have got my belly on peirced, and mine was red for atleast 3 weeks, dont worry about it and try not to catch it because that could cause it to become red. But i don't think it is infected because when it is all stuff comes out of it and it will have a lump on it like my friends did, make sure that you have a gap between the bar and belly on if you get me like so it could get some air to it, i changed my belly within 6weeks and i shouldnt of done because it got red and irrated i changed it back after 4 days and havent changed it since, ive had it done for 5 months now. So dont worry about it, because maybe your bellys not use to it yet! just wait and see, but i got this piercing lotion when i got mine done. hope this helped!

My 7 years old min pin doesn't eat pet food - Question No. 3?

Hi there, my 7 years old min pin refuses to eat canned or dry commercial pet food. So I cook every day fresh chicken of beef for him. I feel guilty when I try to switch to commercial pet food because he can be 2-3 days without eating or. In the end, I give in with regular cooked meat. My vet told me to give him pet food while some other people I talked with said it's ok for a dog to eat only meat. I am very confused about the whole situation. I don't think he has a balanced diet, no fruit and no vegetable. I cook meat with bones in the pressure cooker, the bones become very well cooked, tender and chewy and I give him these bones to chew on, one at a time, he just loves these bones. The vet told me he was healthy. However, I am asking the experts reading this forum if in the end, Kooky will stay healthy with this diet and the way I feed him is ok. During the day, he doesn't drink or eat, only in the evening. Thank you for your reply.
