Is the internal combustion engine outdated?

Really, it's embarring to see a brand new luxury car with state of the art sound system, navigation, safety features, BUT!!! (it's still got one of those highly explosive, highly inefficient, highly unreliable internal combustion engine burning carbon fuels). I hope an auto exec falls on a piece of ice today and breaks his coccyx and ruptures his rectum too. I also hope that the oil execs drown in a sea of their precious poisonous oil.
