The power steering on my vauxhall meriva has broken?

Last night as i was going around a corner the power steering suddenly cut out and the EPS light on the dashboard came on. Does anybody know if this will be expensive or hard to fix? The car had a whole new engine fitted just last week which cost �2,577.44. Am I wrong in thinking that this is getting beyond a joke? It has done less than 50,000 miles and is an 05 plate car. Also the garage are refusing to give me a courtesy car so on top of the money i spent last week it is now costing me a days wage.
